Last Saturday Chelsea had to go through an afternoon of frustration as they failed to beat Newcastle at home, only managing a 0-0 draw.
Chelsea had the majority of the possession, but couldn’t deal with the ultra defensive display Newcastle mustered up.
It could have been different though had Frank Lampard’s strike from the edge of the area - the best attacking moment Chelsea produced - hadn’t been saved by Shay Given.

Last week was a miserable one for Arsenal and manager Arsene Wenger. The trouble began with news of defender William Gallas’ book, which heavily criticised his team mates and the running of the club.
The outspoken French man was quickly dropped from the squad and stripped of his club captain duties. That appeared to have had an effect on the pitch, with Arsenal producing a lacklustre display in a match which they lost 3-0 to Man City.
In team news for Arsenal, striker Emmanuel Adebayor, defender Bacary Sagna and Samir Nasri have all recovered from injuries and are expected to be named in the starting eleven.
However Arsene Wenger will not be able to call upon Abou Diaby, Kolo Toure, Theo Walcott and Emmanuel Eboue, who are all injured.
In last season’s corresponding game, which was held in March, Chelsea collected the three points in a 2-1 win with two goals from Drogba. Arsenal’s goal scorer that game was Sagna.

Last Saturday Mark Hughes saw his Manchester City side produce a memorable performance in a 3-0 demolition of Arsenal to pile the pressure on Arsene Wenger.

On Sunday, The Championship will stage the first league Welsh Derby between Swansea and Cardiff for the first time in nine years.
On Tuesday Swansea City earned a draw against Coventry City at the Ricoh Arena. Jordi Gomez gave the Swans the lead, only to see the goal cancelled out by a late strike by Danny Fox.
It could have been worse for the Swans to on another night, as Clinton Morrison twice placed the ball in the net, only for the “Goals” to be ruled out.
In team news for Swansea City, midfielder Leon Britton could miss the game with a back problem. Ferrie Bodde and Marcos Painter are also out while Jordi Gomez is suspended
On Tuesday Cardiff City failed to make the most of the situation against Reading once the visitors had been reduced to ten men following Bikey’s dismissal.
Cardiff, who were employing a three man strike force of Boothroyd, McCormack and Chopra started the game on fire and deservedly took the lead via Wayne Routledge, who was making his home debut for the club.
However Reading would quickly equalise, but following the red card, Michael Chopra scored from the penalty spot to give the Bluebirds a 2-1 lead before half time.
In the second half though Reading snatched an early goal and then looked the much better side, limiting Cardiff to just a few half chances.
Manager Dave Jones is expected to name Joe Ledley back in the side after he was passed fit to play since injuring his fingers in the win against Crystal Palace. Striker Eddie Johnson, will miss the game due to a foot injury.

Last Saturday Martin O’Neils Aston Villa held firm to grind out a 0-0 draw against the Champions Man United.
There were chances for the Villa to gain all three points, with Gabriel Agbonlahor hitting an early chance straight at Edwin van der Sar, and later saw an Ashley Young effort saved by the veteran keeper.
The result meant that Aston Villa climbed above Arsenal into fourth place in the table, with many neutral supporters backing them to finish above Arsene Wengers men.
In team news for Aston Villa, defender Carlos Cuellar could return following groin and thigh injuries, John Carew and Luke Young also look set to be recalled to the team after recovering from injury. Last Saturday Fulham surprised many in the league to earn a 0-0 draw with title contenders Liverpool at Anfield. Although for large parts of the game they had to defend, they did create good chances.
Fulham’s better chances came from Andrew Johnson and Jimmy Bullard, who both tested Pepe Reina in the Liverpool goal.
That draw moved Fulham up to ninth place in the table, with eighteen points on the board so far.
In team news, Fulham boss Roy Hodgson is expected to name the same side, with perhaps the recall of Leon Andreasen who is back from a back injury.
In last seasons corresponding game, Aston Villa collected a 2-1 victory. A Clint Demsey goal put Fulham in front after 6 minutes, but an own goal by Knight and a 90th minute by Maloney gave Villa the three points.

In team news for Newcastle, Damien Duff and Shola Ameobi have been ruled out, but Mark Viduka could finally return from injury. Viduka hasn’t played all season and will be looking forward to facing his old club. Along with Viduka, defender Steven Taylor has recoverd from an abdominal muscle tear and Xisco is also fit.
In last seasons corresponding game the match ended all square at 2-2. N’Zogbia gave Newcastle the lead, only to see it cancelled out by Mido. Then with only 13 minutes left Viduka put the Magpies 2-1 in front, three minutes before Arca, a former Sunderland player equalised for the Boro.

Last weekend Andrew Driver’s superb solo effort ensured that Hearts came from behind to beat Falkirk and consolidate their place in third in the table.
Steve Lovell had given Falkirk an early lead, but Bruno Aguiar’s free kick made it all level just a few minutes later.
Hearts are in good form, winning four of their last five matches, however they have struggled to find a goal scorer with their leading marksman, Michael Stewart only finding the net three times.
Hearts will be without midfielder Michael Stewart who is suspended, and will also be missing the duo of Mike Tullberg and Saulius Mikoliunas who are injured. However they should be able to welcome back the midfield pairing of Laryea Kingston and Deividas Cesnauskis who are once again fully fit.
Last week Rangers grinded out a 2-0 victory at Ibrox against Aberdeen with a performance that was less than convincing.
However they gained the three points, which could be vital at the end of the season with goals from Jean-Claude Darcheville and Kris Boyd.
Rangers are beginning to find a bit of form now and have won their last two games, having drawn two of their previous three matches. Their top scorer is Kris Boyd, who has eleven goals to his name so far this season.
In team news for Rangers, striker Kenny Miller is still recovering from a calf injury, while Steven Davis is out of contention due to family reasons. Rangers should be able to field defenders Sasa Papac and Madjid Bougherra who missed the wins over St Mirren and Aberdeen.

McDonald had given Celtic a thirteenth minute lead with a superb chip shot over Ben Foster and had looked comfortable throughout the first half. In the end though the growing pressure by United paid off and they could have won the game in stoppage time had Berbatov not failed to find the net from just six yards out.
Man Utd are currently top of the table with eight points, which is the same tally as Villarreal. United though have a superior goal difference of two goals, thanks to only conceding one goal in four games so far in this competition.
In team news for Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to miss the game after limping out of the game on Saturday. Darren Fletcher and Tomasz Kuszczak are expected to start the game.
In their last fixture in this competition Villarreal were shockingly held to a draw in Denmark against AaB Aalborg. In the first half all appeared to be going to plan with a goal by Rossi, who was of course once on the books of Man United. However Aalborg fought back well in the second half and the game ended 2-2.
There are a few familiar faces in the Villarreal line up, including former Arsenal duo Robert Pires and Pascal Cygan. Keep an eye out for number 14, Mati Fernández, who is being tipped to be one of the stars of the future.
