On Saturday England made it three wins out of three in their World Cup qualifying campaign with a fine second-half display against Kazakhstan.
The win was a little flattering, with England struggling to make the break through until Rio Ferdinand converted from a corner and the lead was soon doubled when Alexandr Kuchma headed into his own net.
Zhambyl Kukeyev pulled one back after a mistake by Ashley Cole – who was then subjected to boos and abuse from his own supporters. However England would seal their win with a double by Wayne Rooney and a late strike by Jermain De Foe.
Qualification is all about results and this one would have pleased the England supporters, especially with the way they handled the absence of John Terry and of course Michael Owen.
