Birmingham City are in seventieth place, one point above Bolton Wanderers having played one game more.
In team news for Birmingham City, they will be without defender Martin Taylor, who is serving his third and final match of his suspension. Striker Cameron Jerome is expected to be in the squad, despite suffering with a minor toe injury.

Newcastle United’s form has been terrifying. Since their last league victory, they have collected just three points from a possible thirty six available.
Last Saturday Liverpool eased past Newcastle at Anfield with a hat trick scored by Fernando Torres.
Following the defeat, goal keeper Steve Harper admitted the club’s defensive frailty is severely hampering their efforts to avoid relegation.
With just three points separating the Magpies from the relegation zone, goal difference could play a vital role this season.
In team news for Newcastle United, Mark Viduka could be back into the squad after recovering from injury and midfield man Joey Barton is available for selection. They will be without four regulars though, with James Milner, Shay Given, Emre and Stephen Carr all sidelined.

In the reverse fixture earlier this season, Newcastle collected all three points with a 2-1 victory. Cameron Jermone had given Birmingham the lead, but goals by Martins and Beye turned the game around.
