Last weekend Bolton recorded a surprise victory over Hull, their second victory in as many games. The only and winning goal of the game came from Matthew Taylor, when his left-foot shot from the edge of the area that went through a crowd of players.
Bolton though will have plenty to thank goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen for during the match, with the stopper making a string of world class saves. The best was from Marlon King late on when he brilliantly recovered to punch the ball clear with Geovanni looking set to net an equaliser.
In team news for Bolton, they will welcome back captain Kevin Nolan from suspension. With no injury worries to report on, manager Gary Megson is being tipped to revert to a 4-5-1 formation to accommodate the threat of Liverpool.
Last Saturday Liverpool put in a calm and composed performance without ever really hitting the heights expected of them during their 3-0 victory at home against West Brom.
Robbie Keane scored two of the goals, the first was when he latched on to Steven Gerrard’s pass before clipping the ball over Carson. His second was also well taken, rounding Carson before Alvaro Arbeloa curled in a late third.
Having rested many of his big players in midweek, Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is expected to field a full strength line up, with only Phillip Degan, who picked up a foot injury at White Hart Lane on Wednesday likely to be missing.
In this corresponding fixture last season an own goal by Jaaskelainen and striker by Babel and Aurelio was enough to secure a 3-1 victory for Liverpool. Cohen grabbed a late consolation goal for Bolton.
