Brazil return to their UK home, Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium, to take on Sweden.

This match is a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the 1958 World Cup clash. The 1958 world cup was of course staged in Sweden, and when the home side reached the final against Brazil, the footballing world was in for a treat.

A goal by Liedholm gave Sweden a shock lead after just four minutes, but two goals a piece from Vava and Pele, as well as a goal by Zagallo gave Brazil a commanding 5-1 lead before Simonsson scored a consolation goal with just ten minutes to go.

More recently Brazil faced Sweden in the Semi Final of the 1994 World Cup in front of over ninety one thousand fans at the Rose Bowl, Pasadena.

A Brazil side featuring the likes of Bebeto, Romario and Dunga beat a Sweden side starring Brolin, Dahlin and Ravelli with a headed goal by Romario on the eightieth minute.

Brazil would go on to win that tournament on penalties against Italy, while Sweden secured third place in the tournament with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Bulgaria.

In squad news for the game, AC Milan’s Kaka and Barcelona’s Ronaldinho are not included, but AC Milan’s Alexandre Pato and Real Mardid’s Robinho are expected to start the game. Chesea’s Alex, Liverpool’s Lucas ad Arsenal’s Gilberto Silva are also in the squad.

Sweden have five players in the squad that play their domestic football in the Premier League. Those being Andreas Isaksson, Erik Edman, Olof Mellberg, Sebastian Larsson and Fredrik Ljungberg
