The third fixture in the Algarve cup sees Celtic face Cardiff City, as both sides look to prepare for the new season.

In their last game Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink came off the bench to nod home a stoppage-time equaliser for Celtic in their Algarve Cup opener against Middlesbrough.

In transfer news for Celtic, Celtic and Auxerre are yet to agree a fee for the transfer of Gabriel Tamas, which could see the transfer deal collapse uless it is resolved quickly.

Derek Riordan, who found himself out of the first team picture last season is forcing his way back into contention, following a goal against Albion Rovers in a 4-1 win.

Cardiff lead the way in the tournament after a 2-1 win over Vitoria Guimaraes, thanks to a double from former Motherwell striker Ross McCormack. McCormack linked well with Steve Thompson and Paul Parry in attack, which will be much welcomed news for manager Dave Jones.

It has been another summer of uncertainty for Cardiff fans, who have seen players depart, but no arrivals to capture their imagination. Last season the “golden oldies” Robbie Fowler, Jimmy Hasselbaink and Trevor Sinclair arrived on big wages, but failed to deliver. They, along with teenage sensation Aaron Ramsey have left the club.

In their place Ross McCormack has joined, along with Miguel Comminges, Darren Dennehy and former Liverpool winger Mark Kennedy.
