Chelsea may see the return of goalscoring midfielder Frank Lampard, as well as defender Ricardo Carvalho following his ban. John Obi Mikel may be in the 16 after returning from African Cup Of Nations duty with Nigeria. They will once again be without Andriy Shevchenko and John Terry.

Liverpool finally reorded a league victory last Saturday by beating Sunderland 3-0. Before that they had drawn four and lost one of their last league games. They are the league’s draw specalists this season, with 10 games ending all level so far.

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has a few injury worries for this game, strikers Fernando Torres and Andriy Voronin are out as are Fabio Aurelio, Alvaro Arbeloa and Daniel Agger. Ryan Babel is a major doubt while Xabi Alonso is suspended.

When these two sides met earlier in the season, the game ended 1-1. Fernano Torres put Liverpool in front with 16 minutes gone, before Frank Lampard equalised with a penalty just over the hour mark.
