Last weekend Chelsea moved back above Liverpool to the top of the league with a 3-0 victory at West Brom.

The Baggies matched the visitors for long periods of the game until Jose Bosingwa smashed the ball past keeper Scott Carson. The in form Nicolas Anelka ran clear shortly before half time to dink home a second, then he made it 3-0 before the break.

The second half was then dominated by Chelsea, but they were unable to add to their goal tally for the game.

In team news there are a few doubts for Chelsea to contend with, Frank Lampard is a doubt with a rib injury and Didier Drogba is suspended. There are also doubts over defenders Ashley Cole, Juliano Belletti, Ricardo Cavalho and Alex. However winger Joe Cole and goalkeeper Petr Cech may return to the side.

Last weekend Joe Kinnear’s Newcastle were denied three points when Titus Bramble, a former player scored a dramatic equaliser in a 2-2 draw.

With Wigan 1-0 infront, Michael Owen equalised with just 10 minutes on the clock, before Obafemi Martins then smashed in a second to send St James’ Park wild.

That result meant Newcastle United climbed out of the relegation zone into 17th place.

In team news for Newcastle United, they are still without defender Steven Taylor who is suffering with an abdominal muscle injury. Danny Guthrie is likely to deputise for Joey Barton, while Mark Viduka is still out of contention.

In the corresponding game last season, Chelsea collected a 2-1 victory with a late goal by Kalou after Essien’s opener had been cancelled out by Nicky Butt.
