Just saw this article http://ssrn.com/abstract=1646855 on the magic formula to win the world cup. Its a statistical analysis that shows that a host country gets an extra 2.5 points in the group stage (that’s practically an extra win!). Not only that, it says that the nationality of the coach makes no difference to a teams’ success.
