On Saturday Everton’s hopes of finishing fourth were dented when Mauro Zarate’s late free-kick rescued a point for relegation-threatened Birmingham City
Everton took the lead after seventy eight minutes when Yakubu headed a Lee Carsley cross towards goal and Lescott got the decisive flick.
Birmingham’s equalising goal came as a blow to Everton, who also saw Liverpool win and go five points clear of them in fourth place with just four matches left to play.

On Monday Emile Heskey struck with an injury-time volley to earn a point for Wigan and leave Chelsea’s hopes of winning the Premier League hanging by a thread.

On the night Chelsea found Wigan goal keeper Chris Kirkland in fantastic form but Chelsea did take the lead when Michael Essien struck from 20 yards ten minutes into the second half.

However Heskey converted Jason Koumas’s teasing cross in stoppage time to sink the hearts of the Chelsea fans. Despite dropping points manager Avrim Grant commented “We are still in the title race. It is more difficult now but we will still fight away,”

Chelsea are five points behind Manchester United with four games left to play. They do have to face the champions in one of those fixtures, but the title race is now out of their hands.
