Everton face SK Brann at Goodison Park with one foot already through the door into the next round of the Uefa Cup

Everton will feel that they have all but done enough to secure their place in the next round of the competition thanks to goals from Leon Osman and Victor Anichebe earned a 2-0 victory over SK Brann in Norway.

Both of the goals were well worked, firstly Leon Osman scored with a low strike just before the hour and substitute Victor Anichebe turned in Joleon Lescott’s cross just two minutes from time.

Another positive came from that game, that being the return of striker Yakubu. Yakubu had been fined and dropped by Everton following his late return from the Africa Cup of Nations. He responded well and was one of the best players on the pitch and was a constant thorn in the SK Brann defence.

SK Brann did have a few moments where they could feel as though they could have got something from the first leg, they could have even taken the lead when former Portsmouth forward Azar Karadas sent an instinctive header over the bar from a free-kick after just eight minutes.

Everton will know that they just need to concentrate and they will be in the next round of the Uefa Cup. In team news, Victor Anichebe is being tipped to start the game ahead of Andy Johnson.
