Some of you may remember FH Hafnarfjordur from the 2004/05 season when they beat Scottish Club Dunfermline in the qualifying rounds of the Uefa Cup 4-3 on aggregate.

Aside from that night, few would have heard of the club outside of Iceland, but they may be capable of causing a few problems on their home soil.

Their biggest threat to the Aston Villa goal may come from Tryggvi Guomundsson, who once had a spell on loan at Stoke City. He has scored 151 goals in 303 appearances in his career, as well as scoring 10 international goals for Iceland.

Aston Villa enter the competition after finishing sixth in the Premier League last season. The sixth place finish was a huge improvement and indicates that good times are heading back to Villa Park.

In team news for Aston Villa, manager Gareth Barry is facing the dilemma of whether or not he should indeed play captain Gareth Barry. If Gareth Barry does play any part in the game, he will be cup tied from European competitions for this season, which will surley end Liverpool’s long term interest in the player.

New signing Nicky Shorey is set to make his debut for the club, but recent purchases Carlos Cuellar and Luke Young are ineligible, with Steve Sidwell out due to injury.

Nigel Reo-Coker, Stiliyan Petrov, Wayne Routledge and Shaun Maloney are all available for the game, which could see Gareth Barry sit the match out.
