The Kaizer Chiefs are of course the team that inspired the Leeds based rock band of the same name, duo to one of their former players Lucas Radabe. Lucas Radabe enjoyed a hugely successful spell at Elland Road and to date has been the clubs most noteworthy former player.

Last season Kaizer Chiefs finished sixth in the ABSA Premier League, having collected forty three points from thirty games. The team finished twenty one points behind winners Supersport United.

This fixture may give the Kaizer Chiefs a look at some of their new signings, including the duo of Thabang Rooi and Gordon Gilbert, who joined from Mpumalanga Black Aces. Defender Valery Nahayo, who joined from Jomo Cosmos in June may also play some part, as could Jose Torrealba, the striker who has the nickname “El Buda” joined from Mamelodi Sundowns.

On Saturday Manchester United put in a good performance to defeat Aberdeen 2-0, with Michael Carrick netting a penalty before Wayne Rooney headed home the second goal. After the game Aberdeen boss Jimmy Calderwood paid tribute to Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs, telling the press “When you see older players like Scholes and Giggs with their attitude, hunger, touch and vision, it’s fabulous.”

In team news, the side that United field for this match has not been revealed, but Manchester United will not want to disappoint their legions of South African based fans and are likely to field a strong eleven.

If this is the case, the likes of Michael Carrick and Wayne Rooney are likely to start the game, as are Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Carlos Tevez.
