Liverpool have finally found the form that has been demanded by their supporters all season. They have now won all four of their last games (in all competitions) and will be on a high after their last performance.

That performances and result was a 4-0 victory at home, where Fernando Torres scored a hat-trick for the second consecutive league game at Anfield as Liverpool. Steven Gerrard scored the fourth with a spectacular long-range effort meaning that Liverpool had won their game in hand to move above Everton and into fourth place in the League.

Newcastle United are just three points above the drop zone. In the league their form has got worse throughout the season and have now lost their last three league games, as well as their last five league matches away from St James’ Park. Newcastle are yet to record a first win under Kevin Keegan.

Surprisingly scoring goals has been a problem for Kevin Keegan’s men, having only found the net three times in six matches, that poor showing in front of goal has meant the team have only collected two points in six games.

In the reverse fixture earlier this season, Liverpool recorded a 3-0 victory at St James’ Park with goals scored by Steven Gerrard, Dirk Kuyt and Ryan Babel.
