Wales travel into the unknown of Luxembourg at the Stade Josy Barthel in a friendly match.

Duo to injuries and a forthcoming under 21 match, Wales manager John Toshack named an experimental squad for this game.

Overall there are eleven first choice players missing from the squad. There is no Craig Bellamy, who has struggled for fitness all season. Three of the first choice back four is also missing, being James Collins, Gareth Bale and Danny Gabbiddon.

The most notable absentee from the senior squad is Derby striker Rob Earnshaw. Earnshaw had been playing more football at Derby in the recent weeks and will be disappointed to be left out.

In a decision that raised a few eye brows, Tottenham defender Chris Gunter and Wolves goal keeper Wayne Hennessey were included in Wales’ Under-21 squad for the trip to Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Manager Toshack commented “This is such an important game for the Under-21s because they have put themselves in a position where they can do something that they’ve never done before”. If Wales win the game, they will reach the under 21 tournament in Sweden in 2009.

There are some new faces in the squad, with Hull goalkeeper Boaz Myhill and Stockport defender Ashley Williams both likely to win their international caps. It should also be a memorable night for Simon Davies, the Fulham wide man, who had previously played for Peteborough and Tottenham will win his 50th cap.

Boaz Myhill is expected to play the first forty five minutes of the game, with Derby’s Lewis Price getting the other half.

In the last game Wales played, they recorded an emphatic 3-0 win for Wales against Norway at the Racecourse Ground, Wrexham. The goals were scored by Fletcher and Jason Koumas.
