Last Saturday Manchester City were stunned by relegation threatened Birmingham City and lost the game 3-1, despite the opposition being reduced to ten men!

Man City are ninth in the table having collected forty nine points so far this season.

Last Sunday a rare Ricardo Carvalho goal was enough for Chelsea as they hung on to beat Middlesbrough at Stamford Bridge. The only goal of the game was scored when he headed home Wayne Bridge’s free-kick inside six minutes.

Despite winning the game, Chelsea will count themselves lucky as Middlesbrough were arguably the better side on the day and were guilty of missing clear cut chances.

However the record books will show Chelsea won the match and that put them five points behind leaders Manchester United and one point ahead of third place Arsenal.

In the reverse fixture earlier this season, Chelsea shocked the rest of the league by beating Man City 6-0 during a time when Man City were playing some of the best football in the league. The goals on the day were scored by Essien, Drogba, Joe Cole, Kalou and Shevchenko.
