Following Arsenal’s draw with Middlesbrough, Manchester United can go three points clear at the top of the table with a win against Bolton Wanderers.

On Saturday Manchester United needed a late goal by Ronaldo to secure the points against Derby County.

The goal finally came in the seventy fifth minute when Wayne Rooney crossed for Ronaldo to volley home and spare United’s blushes.

Ronaldo had two other goof chances to score, he hit the post in the first half and was superbly denied by former Man United keeper Roy Carroll shortly after scoring.
Stand in Man United goal keeper, playing his first game in a year did well, denying Kenny Miller on a number of occasions.

The team news for Manchester United suggests that Ben Foster will again play in goal. Carlos Tevez who missed the game with Derby is expected to be back in the squad. Owen Hargreaves who was an unused substitute last time is expected to start in midfield either alongside Paul Scholes or Anderson.

On Sunday Bolton Wanderers lost 1-0 to a Wigan Athletic side that played eight five minutes with ten men.

Wanderers manager Gary Megson had rested nine players in midweek for this crunch clash at the JJB Stadium, but it made little difference.

In a poor match Bolton created chances, but couldn’t convert them and few could argue with the result.

In the build up to the match it has been announced that Bolton keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen will miss the rest of the season because of a back problem. Ali Al Habsi is likely to continue as the number one choice, with former England international Ian Walker also available.
