Fernando Torres completed the turnaround by planting home an unmarked header from eight yards following a well worked Steven Gerrard free kick..

That victory secured Liverpool’s position in fourth place in the table, three points ahead of the bitter rivals Everton with eight games to play.

When these sides met earlier in the season, a Carlos Tevez goal on the verge of half time was enough to earn Man United a 1-0 victory.
