The second match of the Euro 2008 competition surprisingly doesn’t feature either the hosts of the tournament or the winners of Euro 2004.

Instead the football fans are treated to a match between Portugal and Turkey to round up the opening set of fixtures of group A for the day.

Portugal finished second in their qualifying group, also group A behind Poland having collected 27 points, one behind Poland, but three in front of third placed Serbia. Big things are expected from Portugal and they are considered to be one of the favorites to win the tournament.

In team news for Portugal Jose Bosingwa, who premier league fans will be able to see on a weekly basis next season as he has joined Chelsea, is expected to be back in the side after recovering from a muscle strain.

The man of the moment Cristiano Ronaldo should also start the game having recovered from a knock on his ankle which did put his place in doubt.

Turkey like Portugal also finished in second place in their qualifying campaign, behind Euro 2004 winners Greece. Turkey amassed a total of 24 points, seven points behind Greece and only one point in front of third placed Norway.

In team news for Turkey Hamit Altintop of German champions Bayern Munich is a major doubt as he is suffering with a muscle strain.
