PSV Eindhoven welcome Tottenham following a 1-0 victory by the Dutch champions in the first leg.

In the opening match Jefferson Farfan pounced on an error from Tottenham debutant Gilberto to hand PSV Eindhoven a crucial first-leg lead.

After thirty three minutes Jefferson Farfan stole the ball from Gilberto from just over the half way line and ran into the box before superbly lashing the ball past Paul Robinson.

PSV Eindhoven deserved to finish the match with an advantage and should have added to the scoreline. The goal scorer Farfan, who took his goal so well was guilty of missing three guilt edged chances.

This defeat was only the third in fifty nine European games played at White Hart Lane, but leaves them with an uphill struggle when they visit the Eredivisie leaders.

The build up to the game has been unusual, with many believing it would be called off due to a strike by Dutch police.. PSV’s match against Ajax on Sunday was one of a number of matches in Holland postponed because of the strike.

In team news for Tottenham, Jermaine Jenas is unavailable after the in form midfield man twisted an ankle against West Ham on Saturday. Right back Alan Hutton is Cup-tied having played in the competition for Rangers before joining the club. Striker Darren Bent is a major doubt having not trained with the side due to an illness.
