Rangers v Motherwell Live Online as Rangers look to close the gap with Celtic at the top of the table
In their last game Rangers could only manage to earn a point against a stubborn Hibernian side in a 0-0 draw.

In the first of eight games Walter Smith’s men face in a 21-day period. defender Carlos Cuellar came the closest to scoring in the first half, but saw his header saved by Andrew McNeil. Cuellar almost scored a last gasp winner but saw his header sail narrowly over the crossbar.

That draw meant that Rangers edged to within seven points of SPL leaders Celtic, with three games in hand to play.

In the build up to this match, it has been revealed that The Scottish Premier League has rejected a request by Rangers to have Saturday’s encounter with Dundee United at Ibrox postponed. Rangers wanted more time to prepare for their Uefa Cup final appearance against Zenit St Petersburg next Wednesday.

On Saturday Motherwell saw their lead against Celtic over turned and ended up loosing the game by a 2-1 score line. Chris Porter headed Motherwell in front after an hour, stooping to meet Brian McLean’s excellent cross. But the lead lasted for a mere minute as Scott McDonald nodded in his 30th goal of the season and Georgios Samaras was then left unmarked at a corner to score the winning goal.

Motherwell are third in the league, one point ahead of Dundee United, but also have two games in hand to play.
