Romania qualified for Euro 2008 by finishing top of the qualification group G table. Romania were a surprise package to a certain extent.

In squad news, Romania coach Victor Piturca has left Dinamo Bucharest striker Florin Bratu out of his final squad. Injuries had already seen goalkeeper Danut Coman and midfielder Ovidiu Petre sent home along with uncapped midfielder Ciprian Deac.

France qualified for the competition by finishing second in qualification group B, three points behind Italy and just two points ahead of third placed Scotland.

France are criticized for having an aging football team, which was evident at times during the qualification. Despite their age though, they know how to cope with the big occasions and can’t be ruled out.

In team news for France, they suffered a double injury scare when Thierry Henry and Franck Ribery pulled out of training on Thursday.

Henry limped off to undergo treatment on a sciatic nerve problem, while influential attacker Ribery was still troubled by an ankle injury. Patrick Vieira will be out of the game with a thigh injury. Vieira limped out of an earlier training session with a slight thigh tear.
