Spain qualified for the competition by finishing top of Group F ahead of the likes of Sweden, Northern Ireland and Denmark.

Spain despite their abundance of talent were beatable in qualification and were beaten twice in twelve games. Spain are known as under achievers but will feel as though it is their time to win a major competition.

In team news for Spain, there are have concerns over striker David Villa who is struggling with a thigh injury, as well as Sergio Garcia and Andres Iniesta, who are suffering from food poisoning.

Russia qualified for Euro 2008 by finishing second in Group E, behind Croatia, but one point in front of England. Russia are known for playing attractive, fluent football and that was evident with their qualification record which read seven wins, three draws and two defeats in a tricky group.

In team news for Russia, Guus Hiddink is without key playmaker Andrei Arshavin and striker Pavel Pogrebnyak.

Arshavin is suspended while Pogrebnyak has been ruled out of the tournament with a knee injury.
