Last weekend West Brom were comfortably beaten by Liverpool at Anfield. To be fair to W.B.A, they did start the game well, having some decent spells of possession, but when Liverpool stepped up a gear, they had no response to it.
It’s been five games since The Baggies have collected a win in the league, that came in October, against Fulham thanks to a single goal by Bednar.
In team news for West Brom, Abdoulaye Meite and James Morrisson may may return from injury, however defender Neil Clement won’t be facing his old club as he is still suffering from a knee injury.
Last Sunday in farcical footballing conditions, Nicolas Anelka scored twice in a 2-0 victory over Blackburn. Despite the appalling condition of the pitch, Chelsea managed to play some good football and were well worthy of their victory.
The first goal was fortunate, with the ball deflecting off Anelka from Bosingwa’s shot past Paul Robinson. The second though was a superb chipped shot over the advancing keeper following some superb build up play.
In team news for Chelsea, Ashley Cole and Michael Ballack are fit enough to be named in the squad, but are unlikely to start the game. There are six players who are definitely going to miss the game, those being Alex, Julian Belletti,Franco Di Santo, Ricardo Carvalho, Michael Essien and Joe Cole.
Due to West Brom playing in the Championship last season, there was no corresponding fixture. However West Brom do not have the best of records against Chelsea, having not gained a single league point at home against them since 1-0 victory back in 1979.
