West Brom face Portsmouth in the first of the two FA Cup semi finals to be played over the weekend.


West Bromwich Albion, the side with the much boasted best squad in the Championship are looking to win the FA Cup for the first time since 1968. West Brom have a much higher cup pedigree than their opponents, having appeared in the FA Cup final eleven times, winning the competition on five occasions.

In the last round West Brom thumped Bristol Rovers 5-1 in Bristol with goals from Miller, Morrison and Kevin Phillips.

In team news for West Brom, defender Neil Clement is in line for a shock place in the side. Clement had been loaned out to Hull City, but was recalled into the team on Tuesday after returning to the club.

Portsmouth go into the game looking to earn a place in the FA Cup final, which will be their first Cup final appearance since 1939 - the year that they won the trophy.

The omens may be good for Portsmouth as the last time they lifted the trophy, they knocked out W.B.A from the competition along the way!

In the last round Portsmouth pulled of a cup upset by defeating Manchester United at Old Trafford thanks to a second half penalty. Portsmouth owed much of their victory to their goalkeeper than day, the ever impressive David James.

In team news for Portsmouth Lassana Diarra is fit to return to the side, after the French international recovered from a hamstring injury. The African pair of Papa Bouba Diop and Sulley Muntari are also available after serving two-match suspensions.
